Central Synagogue members who have not yet gone through the ritual of Bar or Bat Mitzvah are eligible. If you were not given the opportunity as a child, have converted to Judaism, or have a child/grandchild reaching B’nei Mitzvah age, this is a wonderful time to complete this mitzvah.
There are four components:
Students must have already completed, or be enrolled in one of the following courses prior to their Adult B’nei Mitzvah ceremony:
Students must attend a class retreat and complete a series of learning sessions comprised of Hebrew and Trope practice, D'var Torah workshops, and liturgy and service preparation. Students may choose mornings or evenings – students may not alternate between morning and evening tracks.
Kick-off Retreat: Saturday, October 17, 2015
Dress rehearsals (both Monday and Tuesday classes):
*Hebrew sessions are only required for those who are new to the language.
If community service is not already a regular part of your life, we will offer many ways to get involved with social justice programs at Central.
The ceremony will be held in the Central Synagogue Sanctuary in the spring.
